You’ve heard them referred to as seating cards, escort cards, and place cards. Confused yet? It’s actually pretty simple: place cards are table- and seat-specific and placed at the guest’s place setting, while escort cards are only table-specific and let the guest choose their seat at their assigned table. Escort cards are usually set out at the entrance of the reception for guests to find and take to their table. In the event that place cards are set at each guest’s place setting, a large seating chart is usually at the door for guests to find their table so they don’t have to wander all over the room, looking for their seat.
We also use seating cards to indicate the guest’s entrée choice, either with different-colored crystals or a little silhouette icon.
